Sport Injury Rehabilitation

Sports Injury Assessment & Rehabilitation

Sport and exercise rehabilitation focuses on understanding why an injury is causing pain or limiting your movement, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Your initial 50-minute appointment includes a comprehensive assessment of your injury, symptoms, movement and physical function. Depending on your presentation, this may include range of motion, strength, flexibility, biomechanical and functional movement assessment, alongside relevant clinical and orthopaedic tests.

From there, we’ll explain the findings and develop an individual treatment and rehabilitation plan based around your injury, activity level and goals.

50-Minute Assessment & Rehabilitation Sessions

All sports injury appointments are 50 minutes, giving us enough time to assess, treat and progressively rehabilitate your injury without rushing the process.

Depending on your individual needs, sessions may include:

  • Sports injury and musculoskeletal assessment
  • Strength, mobility and functional movement testing
  • Exercise rehabilitation and progressive strengthening
  • Sports massage and manual therapy
  • Joint mobilisation and soft tissue techniques
  • Dry needling or acupuncture where appropriate
  • Taping and other supportive techniques
  • Mobility and flexibility work
  • Sport-specific rehabilitation
  • Return-to-training and return-to-sport progression
  • Regular reassessment and progression of your programme

Your first appointment will focus more heavily on assessment and establishing the right plan, while subsequent sessions will progressively focus on treatment, rehabilitation and getting you back to the activities that matter to you.

Book an initial assessment or your follow up

Because the session involves analyzing functional movement it is best to wear clothing that is comfortable, preferably shorts and a t-shirt so that both static and dynamic posture can be observed. You may be asked a number of lifestyle questions so that our rehabilitation coach knows exactly where to start treatment or a physical training regime.

This very much depends on the nature of your illness or injury but our job is to get you fit and healthy in the safest and healthiest manor. After our rehabilitator has conducted a full assessment your treatment plan will be fully discussed with you and then you can decide how you would like to proceed. Depending on our findings, you may require just 2 or 3 sessions and for more chronic and complex problems you may need several treatments.
